I’m thrilled to announce that I’m a winner of NaNoWriMo 2018! I ended the 30 day writing challenge with 52,496 words and the rough draft for the 3rd installment of The Guardians of Bliss series. Victory is sweet!
I’m not gonna lie…I almost did not take on the challenge this year. I was overwhelmed with thinking about how much work it would take to succeed. The thought of how little free time I would have to myself was daunting; especially considering I only had a rough idea of where the story was headed.
What did I learn? I learned that when I set my mind to something, nothing is really impossible. If I want something badly enough, I will do the work required to achieve the goal. You may be thinking, “Well, of course, Heather, everyone knows hard work pays off and if you try hard enough you can do anything.” But the fact is, I struggle with having confidence in myself. I am my own worst critic. So, reaching this goal really boosted my self-esteem.
I think from time to time we all need something like this to come along and help us realize just how awesome we truly are. Each of us bring something special into this world that no one else can. The trial of life can beat us up and bury that little spark within us, and we can forget that it’s there. It’s refreshing when we are reminded of who we are and what we have to offer.
If you are in one of those slumps right now, hang in there. Something will come along and remind you just how special and unique you are. You bring a light to the world that shines like no other. Don’t forget that!!
Well done Heather, an incredible achievement xx
