Little Things

Thoughts such as these resonate with me more than ever during this phase of my life…

My children are getting older. My life is evolving. When I reach the end of my time here, I want to be able to look back and feel content that each day I lived my life to the fullest.

I used to think that meant I had to live an “exciting” life, full of traveling, vacations, things that cost more money than I’ve really ever had. So I would despair, feeling as though I was somehow missing out and would therefore not feel fulfilled.

As I’ve grown and matured over the years, I’ve learned the value of the little things. Spending time with my children everyday, visiting with friends and family, or enjoying some quiet time on my own. These simple things, when enjoyed to the fullest, are just as rewarding to the soul as any extravagant adventure I could spend money on.

  1. Heather, this is SO important and it centers on learning how to be content. No matter if you are rich or poor, you will never be happy until you learn contentment.

    1. Yes, indeed. It’s often hard to find contentment when the world is constantly screaming money is the true source of happiness. But while I wouldn’t mind having a little extra to help insure my girls can go to college without loans, I’ve learned money doesn’t create memories or love. So I enjoy each day, as simple as it may be. And I’m content with the simplicity.
