Voices of a Battered Soul #9: You and Me

Gone:   Where did you go?  Why did you leave?  When did I stop being good enough for you?

Unaware:   You seem to have no understanding of the bridge burned between us.

Condescending:   You see me and treat me as less than you.

Savior:   You try to fix everyone you see as broken, make them your pet project.

Martyr:   You see yourself as suffering, sacrificing yourself for others, but you choose it.

Alone:   Yet there are so many people.

Hurt:   A wound left inside me that may never heal.

Empty:   A hole gapes where our friendship once resided.

Sad:   Our kindred spirits have been rent apart.

Judged:   But you don’t even know who I truly am anymore.

Frustrated:   Yes, I’m emotional, but that doesn’t make me any less mature than you.

Angry:   Stop talking down to me as though I am less then you.

Battered Souls have endured a lifetime of abuse: emotional, verbal, physical, sexual, or even all of the above. This leaves behind scars, some of which never truly heal. Although a Battered Soul may find the strength and courage to move forward in life and discover happiness, many times the voices of their scars whisper to them late at night. This is a detailed account of the whispering voices of one such Battered Soul. If you are a Battered Soul, I hope you may find strength in knowing you are not alone in your suffering.

It’s interesting how you label every feeling here. About like every voice inside your head!
