Darkest Before the Dawn

Say what you will about KPOP, there are some truly amazing humans in some of these groups.

I was so impressed when I watched BTS speak to the U.N. this year. The thoughts and experiences they shared were honest and vulnerable. They made it clear they are just as human as the rest of us.

I think what impresses me the most is their humility. They have every reason to be proud and let their success and fame go to their heads. They have broken records that have not been touched since The Beatles rose to fame decades ago. They very easily could be rude and arrogant.

But they aren’t…

They use their impact on the world to try and make it a better place. They write music that encourages my children (and myself) to love themselves and others; to follow their dreams; to make a difference in the world; and to simply enjoy life no matter what stage of life they might find themselves in.

And at the end of their speech, they remind us to stay hopeful. That the darkness we might be feeling right now will soon pass.

It’s always darkest right before the dawn…
